Heidi Bettcher

Community Health Nursing Supervisor

Heidi
Bettcher, RN

About

Heidi Bettcher earned a BS in Nursing from Western Connecticut State University and has been a practicing nurse for 20 years, specializing in pediatrics. Heidi has held various nursing positions, which include her position as a home care case manager and community health coordinator.  She has worked for medical offices, hospitals, schools, and home care nursing agencies. 

As the Community Health Nursing Supervisor, Heidi is in charge of clinical operations, which includes overseeing vaccine clinics, managing clinical personnel, monitoring infectious disease cases, establishing community relationships with local health care providers, and planning and conducting a range of community health programs and screenings.

Gomes, RN

About

Emily Gomes graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Western Connecticut State University. The majority of her nursing experience has been in Maternity, NICU and pediatrics. Emily’s interest in public health began during the pandemic. She started giving COVID vaccines and learning about the needs of the community and the role of the public health nurse. Emily looks forward to continuing to learn and grow within this field!

Joe received his public health degree in the spring of 1993 from Southern Connecticut State University and interned at Naugatuck Valley Health District from January of 1993 to June of 1993. He started working for the Pomperaug District Department of Health as a sanitarian in June of 1993 to present and has been doing environmental work for 28 years. By the end of 1993, Joe was certified in food inspections, phase 1 and phase 2 of subsurface sewage. In the spring of 1994, he became a registered sanitarian. Joe was promoted to Chief Sanitarian in 2021!

AJ Cresci attended Brookfield High School and holds a Bachelors of Science in Recreation and Sports Management from Coastal Carolina University.

He joins Housatonic Valley Health District (HVHD) as a Sanitarian, primarily working with septic systems and environmental health. His duties include conducting plan reviews, septic inspections, and site visits to ensure safe and quality work is performed. AJ is also certified to inspect daycare facilities, pools, and lead complaints.

AJ joined the Housatonic Valley Health District with previous experience from the Danbury Health Department. He was a Danbury Health Inspector, where he worked in environmental health. He was also responsible for housing complaint inspections, and conducting food service inspections. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he conducted emergency management training and assisted with enforcement of sector rules.

Marvalee Washington

Public Health Operations Manager

Marvalee is originally from the beautiful island of Jamaica. She migrated to the United States, where she lived in Long Island N.Y.

After completing high school, she moved on to earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Mass Communications from the University of Bridgeport; she further obtained a Masters Degree in the field of Counseling from the same institution.

As the Operations manager, she supports the Director of Health primarily focusing on project management, research, and maintaining the district’s relationships with external stakeholders. Marvalee has a passion for helping others, making a difference in society, and serving the community. When not serving the community, she enjoys spending quality family time and also visiting new places.

Jennifer
Luis

Jennifer Luis has been working in office management for over 20 years and has worked for the Town of New Milford for five years. As the Office Manager, Jennifer is in charge of ensuring smooth office operations and functions, such as payroll, reports, employee benefits, staff scheduling, accounts receivable, accounts payable and tracking purchases. In addition, she is in charge of ensuring the staff has all the updated procedures and policies for Public Health Care and Environmental. Additionally, Jennifer runs the administration side of the clinics and works diligently to provide quality customer service to the community.

Robin
Lucas

Originally from New Jersey, Robin attended Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in business management and journalism, and a master’s degree in English Literature.

Robin Lucas serves as Grant Program Coordinator. She brings 15 years of public health experience to the Team, having served as the District’s emergency response coordinator and Medical Reserve Corps Unit Leader.

Robin secures grant monies to support the District’s community health initiatives from a broad range of partners and stakeholders, such as CT Community Foundation; US Public Health Commissioned Officers Foundation; Robert Wood Johnson; Centers for Disease Control & Prevention; and National Association of County and City Health Officials.

She is passionate about the delivery of Healthy Living workshops throughout Western CT, maintaining a Matter of Balance Falls Prevention Master Trainer certification, along with licensure to deliver Stanford University’s Diabetes and Chronic Pain Self-Management workshops.

Public Health Preparedness and Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator

Megan
McClintock

Megan McClintock is the Public Health Preparedness and Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator. She received her bachelors in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology and a masters degree in Emergency Management from the University of New Haven. Megan brings real-world pandemic response to the team and strives to make a lasting impact in the communities HVHD serves. Highlights of her experience include creating a FEMA Independent Study 100 course in the analogy of a wedding and creating outreach models to better gain feedback from volunteers. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her cat, and being outdoors.

Ruth Quattro

Public Health Communications Coordinator

Ruth Quattro earned a BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Community Health Education from Western Connecticut State University. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health, specifically in Community Health Education, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Ruth creates education materials to distribute to the public, communicates with stakeholders about proper public health practices, identifies health related issues and creates plans to address those needs, and produces educational reports about health issues, such as COVID-19. Ruth is passionate about access to healthcare, health literacy, and food insecurity.

In Ruth’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family (especially her dog), taking pictures, reading, and going on hikes.
