Tuberculosis Program

Overview

Tuberculosis is a potentially fatal disease transmitted through the air and is fully treatable and preventable. The disease particularly affects persons living in crowded conditions. People who live in crowded areas are particularly vulnerable to such diseases.

Housatonic Valley Health District conducts surveillance for tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection, screening, treatment, and containment activities.
