On February 22nd, the World Health Organization (WHO) Technical Advisory Group on SARS-CoV-2 Virus Evolution declared that the BA.2 sub-lineage should continue to be considered a variant of concern and that it should remain classified as Omicron. The BA.2 subvariant, which spreads 80% faster than the earlier Omicron, has more than doubled in the U.S. over two weeks.
It is important to remember:
- Stay home if you are not feeling well, get tested, and wear a mask when around others
- Monitor yourself daily
- Check your community’s COVID-19 levels and follow recommendations based on level
