HVHD COVID-19 Report

Housatonic Valley Health District is committed to providing weekly in-depth COVID-19 reports, which are published every Friday.

Update from Lisa Morrissey, Director of Health

On February 22nd, the World Health Organization (WHO) Technical Advisory Group on SARS-CoV-2 Virus Evolution declared that the BA.2 sub-lineage should continue to be considered a variant of concern and that it should remain classified as Omicron. The BA.2 subvariant, which spreads 80% faster than the earlier Omicron, has more than doubled in the U.S. over two weeks.

It is important to remember:

  • Stay home if you are not feeling well, get tested, and wear a mask when around others
  • Monitor yourself daily
  • Check your community’s COVID-19 levels and follow recommendations based on level
