Reimagining Empathy – Litchfield County Opiate Task Force (Community Partner Event)

November 30, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

This year we are commemorating a decade of dedicated efforts by the Litchfield County Opiate Task Force. Over the last ten years, the LCOTF has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to addressing the overdose crisis and root causes of addiction in our community. As we come together to honor this milestone, our emotions are bittersweet – a mix of joy and happiness for all that has been accomplished, but a touch of heartache as we remember all whom we’ve lost along the way.

In recognition of this milestone, we would like to welcome you to join us for our upcoming conference that will not only acknowledge the efforts of the past decade but also serve as a platform to further the dialogue on these critical matters. We invite you to join us as we reflect on the journey our community has undertaken to improving the lives of all people thus far, and collectively envision a future marked by continued collaboration and enduring love, compassion, and empathy to combat the crisis at hand.

Schedule for the Day

Registration begins at 8:00 AM, with the opening session beginning at 9:00 AM.

Keynote Speaker Johann Hari will present, followed by a fireside chat and a booksigning opportunity.

Between the hours of 11:30AM and 2:00PM, attendees will have the opportunity to leave the theatre for lunch, attend Johann Hari’s Book signing and/or attend breakout sessions that include the following subjects:

  • Live Saving Measures: Narcan & Hands-Only CPR
  • Mindfulness and Sound Healing
  • Compassionate policing through Deflection
  • Talking to a Loved One About Their Addiction

Each session will be instructed twice, once at 11:45AM and then again at 12:45PM. This gives attendees the opportunity to attend 2 of the 5 sessions if they choose. Seating in the classrooms is very limited, so please arrive to your desired breakouts early.

Back on the main stage, attendees will reconvene for a panel discussion on Harm Reduction as Empathy in Action.

Dr. Gabor Mate will join us to close out the day with a live, virtual presentation and Q&A opportunity.
